Job summary

Spotsylvania County, VA is seeking an Environmental Plan Reviewer to conduct advanced reviews of residential and commercial plans for compliance with federal, state, and county environmental regulations. You will support the Environmental Codes Department, provide guidance, and interact with developers, engineers, and the public.

The role requires a Civil/Environmental Engineering background with 3–5 years of plan review experience, and DEQDual Plan Reviewer/Inspections certs within one year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field; supplemented by 3–5 years of environmental plan review experience.
• Licensure or certifications in environmental plan review and related areas are required or obtained within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Review residential and commercial project plans for compliance with federal, state, and county environmental regulations.
• Provide advanced technical guidance on plan reviews, wetlands, and erosion controls.
• Communicate with contractors, architects, engineers, and the public with professionalism.
• Maintain accurate records and assist in policy development and training.
• Attend TRC meetings and may participate in BOS or Planning Commission meetings.
