Job summary

Excelsior Ambulance Service is seeking a full-time EMT to join the Operations team in Pelham, AL. The EMT will provide emergency medical care under the Division Manager, following all laws, regulations, and company policies.

This role requires lifting and moving patients, driving to emergency scenes, and coordinating with Paramedics on the ambulance. The position is non-exempt/hourly, reports to the Area Manager, and includes a comprehensive benefits package noted by the employer.

Qualifications

• At least 20 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• State EMT/EMT-I/AEMT License.
• State Driver’s License.
• BLS, NREMT (SC & AL).
• Driving record in compliance with company policy.
• Pass Physical Agility Test.
• Some work experience, preferably in healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Assess each call situation to determine the best course of action while working with progressive Paramedic protocols.
• Utilize your EMT skills on medical equipment and procedures including defibrillator, patient monitoring equipment, oxygen and suction devices, and medical interventions to provide quality patient care.
• Document patient information, condition and treatment while maintaining confidentiality and patient rights.
• Communicate with patients and loved ones to provide information and assurance that care is being given.
• Act as an EMS team member and take responsibility for the scene and unit management as needed.
• Drive the ambulance on emergency responses.
• Work collaboratively and in a professional manner with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as your fellow Paramedics.
