Job summary

KLA is seeking a highly motivated Product Development Intern to join our team in Ann Arbor, MI. You will contribute to the design, development, and testing of advanced electron beam instrumentation for the semiconductor industry, working with scientists and engineers across the company.

The role focuses on characterizing electron beam subsystems, operating vacuum equipment, and analyzing data. Requires pursuing a Master’s or PhD with strong academic credentials and CAD/simulation familiarity.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field.
• Strong academic record.
• Familiarity with CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) or simulation tools (COMSOL, ANSYS) desirable.
• Experience with laboratory equipment and data acquisition systems.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or C++ is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical mindset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop methods and test plans for characterization of electron beam based subsystems such as detectors and electron beam sources.
• Work with vacuum chambers, pumps, valves, gages and related equipment.
• Design, set up and execute multi-disciplinary experiments.
• Analyze data and prepare summary reports.
• Work with simulations based on physical models and build correlations with experimental data.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers across the company.
