Job summary

The Southern Oregon Education Service District is seeking an Advanced Interpreter for the 2026-27 school year. The successful candidate will facilitate communication for deaf and hard of hearing students, ensuring access to education while collaborating with educational teams.

Qualifications

• Three years successful experience as an Interpreter in an educational setting (K-12 preferred).
• Score of 4.0 or above on the EIPA Performance Assessment or hold RID NIC, CI or CT Certification.
• Certificate of Completion from an Interpreter Training Program or extensive background and experience with sign language.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication for students who are deaf and hard of hearing.
• Work collaboratively with the Lead Interpreter.
• Maintain accurate records and reports.

Skills

Interpret/transliterate information accurately

Instruct students in the correct use of an interpreter

Demonstrate functional comprehension of subject matter

Consult with educators and administrators

Education

High School diploma or GED

Bachelor's or Associate's Degree from an Interpreter Education Program
