Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration in Fayetteville, NC seeks an Intermediate Care Technician to serve in the Emergency Department as an advanced technician. You will perform patient screening, assist with critical care, and help deliver lifesaving care under licensed supervision.

Expect 24/7 shift scheduling, with day, evening, night, weekends and holidays. Requires clinical training from military programs and ongoing certification in basic life support.

Qualifications

• A transcript must be submitted with your application when using education to qualify.
• If using foreign education, submit a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency.
• Education must be nationally recognized for qualification in Federal employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform observation-based screening and collect patient information with licensed personnel.
• Assist in behavioral/psychiatric emergencies in the ED setting.
• Support ED licensed personnel with care delivery for complex, time‑sensitive cases.
• Set up equipment and pass instruments during procedures (e.g., cardioversion, thoracostomy, ventilation).
• Monitor vital signs and perform 12‑lead EKG; document in health records.
• Respond to medical emergencies as part of Rapid Response Team or Code Blue.
• Obtain and maintain BLS certification and other facility‑specific credentials.
• Assist with CPR training and advanced emergency care techniques.
