Job summary

DHT in Reese, Michigan is seeking an Advanced Diagnostic Technician for first shift to lead complex troubleshooting of Class 8 trucks and related systems. You will diagnose engine, electrical, emissions, ABS and other electronically controlled systems, mentor peers, and document findings and repairs to ensure rapid return to service.

This role requires root‑cause analysis and clear communication across the shop.

Qualifications

• Strong Class 8 truck diagnostic experience.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor other technicians.
• Advanced electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills.
• Thorough understanding of diesel engine and aftertreatment systems.
• Experience with diagnostic platforms such as Detroit DiagnosticLink and Cummins INSITE.
• Familiarity with systems and diagnostic platforms from Bendix and WABCO.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics and technical service information.
• Ability to troubleshoot systematically rather than rely solely on fault codes.
• Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• ASE certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics on Class 8 trucks and related systems.

• Diagnose emissions and aftertreatment systems, including DPF, DEF and SCR.
• Diagnose ABS and electronically controlled braking systems.
• Troubleshoot fault codes, warning lights and communication/network issues.
• Perform electrical testing and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Use OEM diagnostic software and electronic service information.
• Diagnose intermittent and difficult-to-reproduce problems.
• Determine root causes and recommend appropriate repairs.
• Verify completed repairs and confirm equipment is ready to return to service.
• Provide technical guidance and diagnostic support to other technicians.
• Help develop troubleshooting skills and share diagnostic knowledge across the shop.
• Maintain accurate diagnostic and repair documentation.

ADVANCED DIAGNOSTIC TECHNICIAN | 1ST SHIFT | REESE, MI

DHT is looking for an experienced diagnostic technician with strong technical and leadership skills to join our main shop in Reese, Michigan on first shift.

This is not a routine maintenance position. We're looking for an experienced technician who can take on difficult problems across a Class 8 truck — engine, electrical, emissions, ABS, braking and other electronically controlled systems — work through them systematically to determine the root cause, and help provide technical direction when other technicians encounter complex issues.

When a truck has a problem that isn't obvious, this is the person we want helping lead the diagnosis and figuring out why.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Perform advanced diagnostics on Class 8 trucks and related systems
