Job summary

DHT Group in Reese, MI is seeking an Advanced Diagnostic Technician on first shift to lead complex diagnostics on Class 8 trucks. You will diagnose engines, electrical systems, emissions, ABS and other electronic systems, guiding junior technicians and coordinating with the shop.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics on Class 8 trucks and related systems
• Troubleshoot engine performance, electrical and drivability concerns
• Diagnose emissions and aftertreatment systems, including DPF, DEF and SCR
• Diagnose ABS and electronically controlled braking systems
• Troubleshoot fault codes, warning lights and communication/network issues
• Perform electrical testing and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics
• Use OEM diagnostic software and electronic service information
• Diagnose intermittent and difficult-to-reproduce problems
• Determine root causes and recommend appropriate repairs
• Verify completed repairs and confirm equipment is ready to return to service
• Provide technical guidance and diagnostic support to other technicians
• Help develop troubleshooting skills and share diagnostic knowledge across the shop
• Maintain accurate diagnostic and repair documentation

ADVANCED DIAGNOSTIC TECHNICIAN | 1ST SHIFT | REESE, MI

DHT is looking for an experienced diagnostic technician with strong technical and leadership skills to join our main shop in Reese, Michigan on first shift.

This is not a routine maintenance position. We're looking for an experienced technician who can take on difficult problems across a Class 8 truck — engine, electrical, emissions, ABS, braking and other electronically controlled systems — work through them systematically to determine the root cause, and help provide technical direction when other technicians encounter complex issues.

When a truck has a problem that isn't obvious, this is the person we want helping lead the diagnosis and figuring out why.

What You'll Be Doing

• Perform advanced diagnostics on Class 8 trucks and related systems
• Troubleshoot engine performance, electrical and drivability concerns

What We're Looking For

• Strong Class 8 truck diagnostic experience
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to support and mentor other technicians
• Advanced electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills
• Thorough understanding of diesel engine and aftertreatment systems
• Experience with diagnostic platforms such as Detroit DiagnosticLink and Cummins INSITE
• Familiarity with systems and diagnostic platforms from Bendix and WABCO
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics and technical service information
• Ability to troubleshoot systematically rather than rely solely on fault codes
• Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• ASE certifications preferred
