Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3 years of experience in a high volume, high acuity EMS system at ALS level or critical care interfacility transport.
• Current Nationally Registered Paramedic certification.
• Paramedic license issued by the Maryland Institute for EMS.
• Active and valid BLS certification.
• Active and valid ACLS certification.
• Active and valid PALS certification or equivalent.
• Completion of a CCEMTP or equivalent critical care transport course.
• Equivalent coursework determination will be made by MEC Medical Director and Nurse Manager.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver clinical care in the critical care transport setting.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments to identify needs and problems.
• Monitor patients for signs and symptoms and intervene as required.
• Initiate life support therapies under physician orders or MEC guidelines.
• Provide detailed reports to receiving medical teams.
• Utilize resources to deliver comprehensive care to patients and families.
• Continuously assess and revise individualized care plans as status changes.
• Support unit initiatives and participate in governance and committees.
