Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System seeks a highly skilled Paramedic to join the Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MEC) team in Maryland. You will provide high-acuity critical care transport for stroke, STEMI, trauma and neonatal patients under MEC guidelines and MIEMSS protocols.

The role requires active Nationally Registered Paramedic, MD paramedic license, BLS/ACLS/PALS, CCEMTP or equivalent, plus NRP within 6 months and CCP-C/FP-C within 18 months, along with orientation completion.

Qualifications

• Minimum ALS level of care experience in a high-volume EMS system.
• Current Nationally Registered Paramedic.
• Maryland paramedic license.
• Active BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Completion of a critical care transport program (CCEMTP or equivalent).
• Willing to obtain NRP within 6 months of hire.
• Willing to obtain CCP-C or FP-C within 18 months of hire.
• UMMS orientation and Medical Director approval to function as a specialty care paramedic.

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates clinical care within the critical care transport environment.
• Conducts comprehensive patient assessment integrating multiple data sources.
• Initiates life support therapies under physician orders.
• Communicates patient status and interventions to receiving medical teams.
• Participates in unit governance and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintains competencies and serves as a novice preceptor for MEC staff.
