Job summary

Modineer Company in Elkhart, IN seeks a CAD Draftsman to convert customer models into SolidWorks parts, create production prints, and manage tube-related data. You will work with Manufacturing Engineers, Quality, and Production to maintain accurate prints and laser files for floor operations.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of CAD drafting in manufacturing, SolidWorks experience, knowledge of TubeWorks, and a strong eye for detail and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Drafting & Design, CAD, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field.
• SolidWorks experience (parts, assemblies, drawings; weldments and sheet metal a plus).
• 2+ years of CAD drafting experience in a manufacturing environment; tube, sheet metal, or metal fabrication preferred.
• Experience with TubeWorks or other tube unbending/bend data software is a plus.
• Experience with SOLIDWORKS PDM or similar data management/revision control systems is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret customer blueprints, specifications, and GD&T.
• Proficient with Windows and MS Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Convert customer 3D models (STEP, IGES, Parasolid, native) into clean, usable SolidWorks models, repairing imported geometry as needed.
• Use the TubeWorks add-in for SolidWorks to unbend tube models, generate centerlines, and produce unbent (flat) tube files for laser cutting.
• Generate and verify bend data (XYZ and LRA) for tube bending setups.
• Create detailed production prints for both bent and unbent tubes, including bend data tables, cut lengths, hole and feature locations, tolerances, and material callouts.
• Build 3D models from customer 2D prints, verifying all dimensions and features against the customer drawing.
• Revise models and drawings to reflect customer engineering changes and internal redlines, maintaining revision control in SOLIDWORKS PDM.
• Check customer prints for missing, conflicting, or non-manufacturable information and flag issues to the Manufacturing Engineers.
• Support Quoting and Costing with models, cut lengths, part weights, and bend counts for new and revised parts.
• Maintain drawing templates, title blocks, part numbering, and CAD/PDM standards.
• Answer print-related questions from Production and Quality, including first-article support.
• Must demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
