Job summary

City of Glendale is seeking a skilled Building Inspector to perform field inspections and enforce building-related codes. The role involves reviewing plans, advising the public, and coordinating with multiple departments to ensure compliance.

Eight years of journey-level construction experience or four years of inspection experience with a Building Department are required. A valid California driver’s license and ICC/ICBO certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• College coursework in civil engineering, architecture, or related fields can substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
• All personnel must complete 45 hours of continuing education every 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and structures to enforce codes during construction.
• Review plans and documents for inspector requirements.
• Issue notices for improper installations and conduct final inspections.
• Coordinate inspection activities with other departments and agencies.
