Job summary

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses operating difficulties on a variety of vehicles and performs checks on engines and major systems.
• Performs computerized and electronic diagnostic tests using specialized equipment; interprets trouble codes and manuals to identify problems.
• Conducts visual and auditory vehicle inspections, road calls and tests; annotates problems on work orders.
• Provides technical guidance and instructions to mechanics on difficult repairs and in the use of diagnostic equipment.
• Performs maintenance and repairs resulting from normal preventive maintenance inspections.
• Prepares and updates vehicle records, notes labor time, parts and equipment on work orders.
• Performs engine tune-ups; replaces, adjusts, cleans parts and uses test equipment to set tolerances.
• Troubleshoots malfunctioning vehicles from road calls and identifies faulty parts for repair or replacement.
• Repairs and replaces major components including transmissions, differentials, brakes, power assist units, steering and suspension.
• Performs other job-related duties in support of primary duties.
• Follows safety practices and complies with environmental regulations.
