Job summary

United States Postal Service seeks a lead group supervisor for technicians and mechanics in a vehicle maintenance facility. You will personally perform the most complex repairs on postal fleet vehicles and guide lower level staff in advanced diagnostics and repairs.

You will ensure accurate maintenance records, oversee safety compliance, and provide hands-on instruction with computer-aided diagnostic equipment.

Qualifications

  • Leads and supervises a working group of lower level technicians and mechanics.
  • Performs complex repairs and maintenance on postal fleet vehicles.
  • Guides staff in use of computer-aided diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses operating difficulties on a variety of vehicles and performs checks on engines and major systems.
  • Performs computerized and electronic diagnostic tests and interprets trouble codes.
  • Conducts road tests before and after maintenance and annotates vehicle problems.
  • Troubleshoots malfunctioning vehicles and identifies faulty parts.
  • Schedules work and assigns tasks to staff engaged in vehicle maintenance.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and updates maintenance records.
  • Provides technical guidance to mechanics on difficult repairs.
  • Maintains vehicle maintenance records including labor hours.
  • Assists in training personnel in repairs and diagnostic equipment.
  • Monitors compliance with safety practices and environmental regulations.
