Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public or business administration, journalism, communications, writing, English or closely allied field and one year of professional, supervisory, or consultative experience writing or evaluating for compliance with departmental standards and legal requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, journalism, communications, writing, English or closely allied field and three years of professional, supervisory, or consultative experience writing or evaluating for compliance with departmental standards and legal requirements.
• Additional qualifying experience may be substituted, year for year, for education.
• Advanced technical knowledge of and experience with applying underwriting laws, rules, policies and procedures.
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong verbal communication skills. Able to explain complex laws, rules, policies and procedures in a way that is easily understood by those with limited prior knowledge.
• Excellent writing skills. Demonstrated ability to compose clear, straightforward and technically correct documents.
• The ability to take action to learn and grow.
• The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.

Responsibilities

• Build the skills necessary to access the Data Warehouse to query data and maneuver that data into charts and graphs in Hyperion or Excel.
• Learn the team process for studying risk classifications, and complete research projects on various aspects of the classification plan.
• Increase your ability to write research papers and provide professional, well-researched and documented recommendations, in accordance with Plain Talk principles and other program guidelines.
• Present your professional recommendations verbally and in writing to internal and external partners and stakeholders.
• Respond to executive managers, stakeholders, Employer Services staff, as well as internal and external customers on research questions, and interpretation and application of laws and regulations.
• Recommend appropriate risk classification assignments for the most complex businesses and emerging industries.
• Gain experience writing and putting into place rules under the Administrative Procedures Act requirements, working with the Office of the Code Reviser.
• Develop your legislative bill analyzing skills and understand the agency's process and requirements regarding this work.
