Job summary

The State of Maryland seeks an Advanced Accountant within the Division of Labor and Industry, General Administration, to apply GAAP, manage budgets, and advise management on fiscal matters. The role involves coordinating budgeting, grants, and reporting to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.

Responsibilities include supporting OOA procurement and grant drawdowns, preparing legislative fiscal notes, and assisting with audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; auditing coursework preferred.
• Three years of experience applying GAAP to accounting systems and reports.
• Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and procurement processes is valued.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage state budget and federal grant applications; monitor funding and adjustments.
• Monitor monthly procurement transactions, journal entries, and allocations to budgets.
• Reconcile daily cash/revenue and prepare management reports; support ongoing audits.
