Job summary

Fountaindale Public Library District in Will County is seeking a part-time Adult & Teen Services Librarian to provide reference services, reader’s advisory, programming and computer assistance.

The role includes day, evening and weekend hours (25 hours per week), non-exempt. Responsibilities cover desk coverage, technology support, program planning, notary services, and library promotions, with collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• Requires LA/LTA certification or an Associate’s degree or two years completed in a higher education program.
• At least one year of related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides consistent, gracious and friendly service to internal and external customers.
• Enforces District policies and procedures while safeguarding intellectual freedom and patron privacy.
• Performs duties at Adult and Teen Services desks including reference, media, computer commons, and Young Adult areas.
• Monitors the library computer area; diagnoses equipment and software issues and performs routine maintenance.
• Assists patrons with online catalogs, databases, online services, Internet, and hardware/software.
• Plans, prepares, and conducts Adult & Teen programs; assists in cross-department programs; hires performers as needed.
• Creates bibliographies, flyers, blogs, and other promotional materials under guidance.
• Maintains adult & teen collections as assigned; assists with reservations and local history room usage.
• Supports technology use and ensures neat, orderly work areas; cleans computer hardware.
• Participates in library committees and serves as liaison for programming initiatives with external agencies.
• Researches, orders, inventories, and maintains program supplies.
• Prepares records and reports per library policies; collects statistics and submits monthly departmental reports.
• Notary public services for the library.
• Keeps informed of current trends at the local library level.
• Participates in professional development activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
