Overview

Join to apply for the Adult Support Aid role at Ramey-Estep Homes, Inc.

Serves as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team providing 24-hour residential care to adults in the Residential SUD program. The ASA manages the shift and facilitates the emotional, social, moral, and physical recovery of clients within the treatment milieu. The ASA works as part of a team to maintain a safe and secure environment that promotes growth and recovery and aids clients throughout daily activities. The ASA reinforces competencies learned in the therapeutic setting so that clients may function in a less structured environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all Ramey-Estep/Re-group (RE) clients.
• Support the mission, vision, and values of RE; adhere to the agency’s code of ethics, policies, and procedures.
• Support functions that attain and maintain accreditation and regulatory compliance.
• Facilitate positive interaction with clients and staff with maturity, respect, confidentiality, teamwork, and sensitivity to cultural differences.
• Exhibit effective communication skills and use agency communication systems appropriately.
• Participate in professional development to maintain competency.
• Manage financial and physical resources to achieve the mission of RE.
• Report incidents of abuse or potential abuse to the appropriate authorities and RE.
• Provide guidance and assistance to clients; establish boundaries; observe behavior and respond appropriately.
• Maintain certification in Safe Crisis Management (SCM) and use skills to ensure safety; minimize physical management when possible.
• Engage in recovery support through therapeutic programming (e.g., relapse prevention, life skills, recreation, psychoeducation).
• Conduct groups and assist with educational, vocational, and life skills activities.
• Ensure clients are focused on treatment goals; follow shift responsibilities and daily assignments to maintain a therapeutic living environment.
• Communicate effectively with the treatment team and work within the treatment plan.
• Present as a positive role model; maintain appropriate dress, language, social skills, and hygiene; avoid gossip and inappropriate boundaries with clients.
• Maintain accurate, timely records and thorough objective reports.
• Provide transportation for clients to appointments and drive agency vehicles safely.
• Teach grooming, hygiene, housekeeping, and family living skills; assist clients with emotional and behavioral needs toward recovery.
• Be familiar with emergency procedures for hazards (e.g., tornadoes, power outages, floods, snowstorms).
• Administer or support drug screens as needed; monitor visitations and contraband.
• Comply with licensing, certification, employee handbook, client rights, and other rules of conduct.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: Experience working with SUD population preferred; experience in management/leadership/supervision preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old. Some ASA positions may require a valid Driver’s License and insurability.
• Technical: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications.
• Ability to understand and relate to clients from diverse backgrounds; ability to read, write, and converse in English.
• Pre-employment requirements: drug screen, background check, TB testing or proof of negative chest X-ray.

Specialized Licenses and Training

• Successful completion of Excellent Foundations.
• Annual crisis intervention training; at least 10 hours of alcohol and drug training annually.
• Maintain 40 hours of annual training (including 16 hours of SCM).
• Maintain 16 hours of Safe Crisis Management training; CPR/First Aid training.

Working Conditions

• Shifts may vary due to staffing needs; RE is a 24/7/365 facility with varied shift hours.
• Holidays and weekends are scheduled for all direct care staff.
• Overtime may be required.
• Meals are provided for staff on campus.
• Environment can be intense and fast-paced with potential verbal and physical aggression; indoor and outdoor settings; can be loud and stressful.
