Job summary

Montrose Recreation District is seeking a qualified supervisor to oversee adult sports and programs under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator. You will set up equipment, inspect facilities for safety, and coordinate staff and volunteers to ensure events run smoothly.

As a main contact for parents, spectators, players, and officials, you will monitor conduct, manage risk, and ensure proper cleanup after events. Evening and weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• General knowledge of the assigned sport or program.
• Previous site supervisory experience or program participation.
• Ability to calmly mediate and diffuse tense situations.
• Ability to handle participants, team managers and/or coaches under difficult game situations.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, community organizations, and the public.
• First Aid/CPR certification, preferred, or willingness to become certified.
• Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Set up all required equipment to start the program on time.
• Inspect facility and equipment to ensure a safe playing area.
• Ensure staff, scorekeepers, officials and volunteers are ready and on time.
• Coordinate with coaches and officials to start and end games as scheduled.
• Act as main contact for parents, spectators, players, and officials.
• Provide proper clean up after all games, programs and events.
• Monitor spectators, players, and coaches to ensure safe use of facilities and equipment.
• Ensure proper conduct and standards are upheld by all participants.
• Document inappropriate behavior and notify supervisor or police when necessary.
