Job summary

Mental Health America of Los Angeles (MHALA) seeks a full-time Nurse Practitioner to provide a comprehensive spectrum of psychiatric services under psychiatry supervision for program participants in Los Angeles. The role emphasizes medication management, team collaboration, and coordinated care within a multidisciplinary setting.

Required are a PMHNP degree, CA licensure, DEA registration, and an ability to meet ongoing professional development and documentation standards.

Qualifications

• A Masters degree in Nursing with a specialty in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from an accredited university AND completion of an approved Family/Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited university with furnishing license.
• Current California RN license, NP license, and DEA registration per requirements.
• LPS designation or timely qualification for involuntary holds per 5150 rules.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team-based environment.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities with strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides individual psychiatric consultation, medication consultation and medication management to members.
• Prescribes medications and obtain consents.
• Participates in multi-disciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care.
• Engages in staff training, community liaison work, and professional development activities.
• Maintains program documentation with timely data entry and compliance with standards.
