Job summary

The Physical Therapist at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab will assist patients in reaching maximum physical performance, using standard PT interventions and adapting programs as needed. You will evaluate motor and neurological capabilities, set goals, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team within the institute's vision and core values.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in physical therapy from an accredited program.
• Licensed to practice physical therapy in Illinois.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates patient's physical and functional status including strength, motor functions, reflexes, ambulation, and activities of daily living.
• Performs evaluation techniques such as sensory tests, muscle tests, ROM exams, and charts patient progress.
• Determines suitability for treatment and applies modalities like heat, ultrasound, massage, and paraffin.
• Monitors pain levels and provides education and intervention in consultation with physicians as needed.
• Sets therapy goals and develops a treatment plan including exercises and balance training.
• Documents evaluation and progress for physicians and insurers.
