Job summary

Parkway Schools is seeking an Adult ESL Coordinator to oversee the ESL program, supervise teachers, and support curriculum use. The role includes interviewing and training new teachers, conducting site visits, and placing students into appropriate classes.

Flexibility to observe both morning and evening classes is required. The position is 12-month, 32 hours per week, non-exempt, with starting pay of $20.00 per hour and potential for higher pay based on experience.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree and AEL certification (or ability to obtain after hire).
• Experience coordinating ESL programs and supervising teachers preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills necessary.

Location: Fern Ridge / Community Ed Building

Position: 12 Month Calendar / 32 hours a week

Status: Non-Exempt

Starting Pay: $20.00/hr. (and up depending on experience)

Essential Job Functions

The ESL Coordinator provides classroom support and teacher supervision to all Adult ESL teachers. The role includes interviewing and training new teachers, conducting site visits, reviewing weekly teacher lesson plans, providing recommendations for instructional changes, and supporting teachers with curriculum usage. The ESL Coordinator makes regular site visits to classrooms and helps with instruction as needed. The Coordinator is also responsible for testing and placing students in the correct class. The ESL Coordinator is also responsible for assisting in locating classroom space as the need arises and helps market the Adult Education and Literacy ESL program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• AEL Certification required (can be obtained after hire)
• Highly self-motivated with the ability to balance multiple priorities
• Proficient with Microsoft software products and Google applications
• Highly detail oriented and organized
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
• Willingness to adjust schedule to observe both morning and evening classes
• Ability to perform other duties as assigned
