We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated Part-Time & Substitute Adult Education & ESL Teachers to join our team and support adult learners in achieving their educational and career goals.

Job Title: Adult Education Teacher / ESL Teacher
Ability to Commute: Harrisburg, PA 17110 (Preferred)
Pay Rate: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected Hours: 37.5 per week
Position Type: Part-Time, Contract

Job Summary:

The Substitute Adult Education Teacher / ESL Teacher will provide instruction in Adult Basic Education (ABE), GED preparation, and English as a Second Language (ESL) for adult learners. This position requires flexibility, strong instructional skills, and a commitment to helping adult students succeed in their personal and professional lives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Plan and deliver engaging, learner-centered lessons in ABE, GED, and/or ESL programs.
2. Assess students’ skills and progress, adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
3. Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including technology, to enhance learning.
4. Provide a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student growth and confidence.
5. Maintain accurate attendance records and track student progress.
6. Collaborate with program staff to align instruction with educational and workforce development goals.
7. Substitute as needed for regular instructors in ABE, GED, or ESL classes.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, English, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
2. Experience teaching adult learners, ESL, GED, or ABE preferred.
3. Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional strategies.
4. Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital learning tools.
6. Ability to work with diverse populations and adapt instruction to meet individual needs.
7. PA Adult Education Certification or willingness to obtain is a plus.
8. Bilingual skills (Spanish, Arabic, etc.) are a plus but not required.

Schedule & Compensation:

Flexible, part-time schedule with morning, afternoon, and/or evening classes available. Competitive hourly pay based on experience and qualifications.
