Job summary

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
• Knowledge of local support social services.
• Ability to counsel and encourage students to overcome barriers.
• Thorough knowledge of adult education principles, supervision, curriculum development, program evaluation techniques, and computer use.
• Able to plan and implement instructional programs for adult learners and relate to diverse students.

Responsibilities

• Record and maintain data and progress of students in the Goodwill case management system (GoodTraks), GradPoint, and all student files.
• Provide academic and social assistance and support to students.
• Prepare various reports and present findings.
• Meet with students one-to-one or in groups to review progress toward goals.
• Offer a safe space for students to share academic worries and concerns.
• Assist in developing action plans outlining motivation and goals.
• Monitor student progress and activity throughout schedules; provide guidance.
• Act as coach to ensure attendance, completion and progress in coursework.
• Market and recruit students to participate in training at Helms Academy campuses.
• Assist in developing Helms Academy goals and objectives and maintain policies and procedures.
• Supervise maintenance and confidentiality of school records.
• Review student discipline issues and mediate with teachers and staff.
