Job summary

Christina School District seeks a Teacher of Adults – Adult Basic Education Instructor. This part-time, non-benefited position serves adult learners across district sites, teaching reading, writing, math, and GED prep, with evening hours as needed.

The ideal candidate holds a Delaware educator license and a Bachelor's degree, with 2+ years of teaching experience and proven ability to align lessons with CCRS, use Essential Education/Aztec, and work in hybrid or in-person settings.

Qualifications

• Hold a current Delaware educator license and applicable certification, or a valid Delaware ABE Level I/II permit.
• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Minimum of two years of successful experience teaching K-12 or adult learners.
• Knowledge of CCRS and related instruction alignment.
• Experience using Essential Education, Aztec or similar resources.
• Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver instruction aligned with CCRS based on student needs and program expectations.
• Utilize Essential Education, Aztec and other resources to support individualized instruction.
• Incorporate workforce readiness, digital literacy, civics and financial literacy into lessons.
• Refer students for required pre/post-testing according to testing policy.
• Review and analyze assessment results to set goals and monitor progress.
• Help students achieve educational level gains and NRS targets.
• Monitor progress and communicate concerns to program staff.
• Complete weekly and monthly program data collection accurately.
• Identify barriers and refer students to appropriate resources.
• Use online platforms and digital tools to support instruction and engagement.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
• Maintain knowledge on ABE, GED prep and data-informed instruction.
• Collaborate with Department Education staff to improve persistence and performance.
