Job summary

College of Western Idaho invites applications for an Adult Education Community Learning Center Instructor. You will provide individualized and small-group instruction for adult learners in ESL, digital literacy, and pre-college subjects.

Work includes guiding students through education and career pathways, assessing progress, maintaining records, and collaborating with staff to support WIOA goals in a welcoming, student-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting adult learners from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to provide individualized and small-group academic support.
• Ability to organize and maintain accurate student records and documentation.
• Comfort utilizing technology to support instruction and student learning.

Responsibilities

• Welcome current and prospective students and create a positive, supportive learning environment.
• Provide information about Adult Education and Basic Skills programs.
• Help students identify appropriate college and community resources based on their individual needs.
• Assist students with enrollment into ESL, Basic Skills, and other Adult Education programs.
• Provide instruction in an independent study lab environment through individual and small-group learning.
• Support students in English language acquisition and digital literacy.
• Tutor students in pre-college math, reading, writing, social studies, and science.
• Adapt instructional support to meet individual learner needs and skill levels.
• Promote student engagement, persistence, and confidence through student-centered instruction.
• Administer student assessments and use results to guide course selection.
• Organize and maintain student files and documentation.
• Track student attendance and participation.
• Coordinate with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program requirements.
• Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and supervisors.
• Collaborate with Adult Education staff to provide consistent student support.
• Attend staff meetings, professional development, and required training.
