Job summary

Tutor Me Education in San Francisco, CA seeks an experienced Academic Coach or Tutor for 1:1 sessions with an adult college student at CCSF. Focus on general academic support, executive functioning, and writing/reading skills.

In-person scheduling is 2–3 sessions per week, 1.5–2 hours each, with hours mostly afternoons and some mornings. Compensation ranges up to $45-$50 per hour, with emphasis on empathy, structure, and helping the student stay on track without advanced STEM subjects.

Qualifications

• Experience tutoring adults or coaching students in higher education.
• Ability to support learners with disabilities or mental health challenges.
• Strong background assisting with introductory college writing, reading, and coursework.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 academic coaching and tutoring for general introductory college courses.
• Assist with reading comprehension, foundational essay writing, organization, and assignment planning.
• Implement strategies to build executive functioning skills (time management, note-taking, task initiation).
• Adapt coaching methods for learners with mental health challenges or disabilities, maintaining a calm, structured dynamic.
• Help the student navigate college course portals, syllabi, and deadlines.
• Foster student autonomy while offering support for academic stress.
