Job summary

Central New Mexico Community College is seeking a part-time Learning Center Tutor to assist students in reviewing course material, solving problems, and preparing for tests. Qualifications

  • Experience tutoring Adult Basic Education preferred.
  • Experience with computer-supported learning tools preferred.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish speaking preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in the review of course material and problem solving.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct workshops and study groups for students; conduct marketing activities such as class visits and new student orientations.
  • Serve as a communication link and faculty liaison.
  • Guide students in selecting and using material to meet learning needs.
  • Maintain a weekly calendar of available hours for student appointments.
  • Maintain instructional materials (e.g. textbooks, calculators, software, etc.).
  • Collect and analyze data.
  • Participate in required tutor training.
  • Provide supervision in the absence of a Learning Center Supervisor and assist with recruiting, screening, hiring, orienting, mentoring and retaining new tutors.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level of assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision in the absence of a Learning Center Supervisor as delegated and assist ACE Management with recruiting, screening, hiring, orienting, mentoring and retaining new peer (student), and/or volunteer tutors.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level of assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of thirty (30) hours of postsecondary course work to include a minimum of nine (9) hours in the specific discipline; content courses must be completed with a grade of B or better.
  • Experience tutoring Adult Basic Education students preferred.
  • Experience with computer supported learning tools preferred.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish speaking preferred.
  • This position is grant supported.
