Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Data Scientist for Ads Demand to build the measurement foundation for understanding demand health and advertiser value across the marketplace. You will partner with Ads Sales leadership, Ads Product leadership, Marketing Science, and product and sales teams to diagnose advertiser performance, define benchmarks, identify growth opportunities, and turn feedback into product priorities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of data science or analytics in an ads platform or performance-focused B2B business.
• Demonstrated impact through advertiser demand growth, delivery/ROAS, or retention improvements.
• Strong SQL and Python or R, with expertise in measurement, experimentation, and forecasting.
• Exceptional cross-functional communication with sales and product leadership.

Responsibilities

• Define North Star metrics, diagnostic framework, and measurement strategy for demand health.
• Build an operating view of demand across spend, advertisers, retention, delivery, and mix.
• Diagnose changes via cohort analysis, experiments and causal methods; translate to actions.
• Own end-to-end advertiser outcomes, including ROAS, conversion, retention, and budget efficiency.
• Establish benchmarks by objective, vertical, advertiser size, geography, and product adoption.
• Develop early‑warning signals and opportunity scoring for surface of under‑delivery.
• Translate analysis into advertiser-facing insights, benchmarks, and best practices.
• Forecast outcomes with leadership and inform demand strategies, sales plays, and investments.
