General Description
This position plays an important role in helping older adults, individuals with disabilities, and their families connect with services and resources that support independence, health, and quality of life. The ADRC Specialist serves as an entry point to the Agency by providing information, referrals, and assistance related to aging and disability services and helping individuals access the most appropriate resources based on their needs.
Essential Duties
- Serve as an initial point of contact for individuals seeking information about aging and disability services by phone and in person.
- Provide information, referrals, and assistance related to Agency programs and community resources.
- Gather information, identify needs, and connect individuals with appropriate Agency or community services.
- Complete initial screening for Agency services and assign screenings to appropriate staff.
- Conduct initial options counseling to help individuals understand available services and support options.
- Document contacts, referrals, and service information and follow up as needed to help ensure connections are made.
- Participate in outreach events, presentations, and community meetings to share information about Agency services and available resources.
- Build and maintain working relationships with community organizations serving older adults and individuals with disabilities.
- Maintain and update Agency resource information in ADRC Online and help ensure information remains accurate and current.
- Follow Agency policies, confidentiality requirements, and mandatory reporting obligations while providing professional customer service.
Minimum Qualifications
A qualified applicant will have a minimum of four (4) years of equivalent combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities required. The following qualifications meeting the minimum requirements will be considered:
- Associate’s degree in social services or related area
- Two years of relevant work experience dealing with the public, and some exposure and understanding of working with seniors and people with disabilities
- Must be able to pass Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS) Certification (training provided)
Other Requirements
Driving for Agency Business.
Positions that require driving must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record. May require proof of personal automobile liability insurance in accordance with ORS Chapter 806 and use of a personal vehicle.
Background Check.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history check. Conviction of a crime does not automatically disqualify an individual from employment. Some positions may require additional screening, including but not limited to state or national fingerprint-based background checks.
Mandatory Reporting and Confidentiality.
Must comply with confidentiality requirements and mandatory reporting obligations related to vulnerable populations.

- Ability to use office software and learn Agency databases and resource systems.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and apply policies and procedures appropriately.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high call volume environment.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment.
- Regular use of computers, telephones, and other office equipment.
- Frequent interruptions and changing priorities throughout the work day.
- Regular sitting, talking, hearing, and repetitive hand movement.
- Occasional standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Infrequent travel to homes, facilities, outreach events, and other Agency offices throughout the service area.
- Occasional evening or weekend work, including outreach events or meetings.
- Interaction with staff, consumers, providers, and the public in office and community settings, including occasional exposure to contagious illness, challenging behavior, or domestic animals.
