Job summary

The Orchards Michigan in Redford, MI is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our team. The ADON will lead nursing staff, oversee onboarding, and collaborate with management to ensure high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities include scheduling, performance coaching, budget monitoring, and staff evaluations, with a focus on regulatory compliance and patient safety. This role requires strong communication, leadership, and clinical expertise.

• Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills to interact positively with staff, patients and patients’ families
• Extensive knowledge of nursing best practices and federal, state and local healthcare laws
• Strong written communication skills to compile reports and write evaluations
• Analytical skills to interpret diagnostic information and financial data

Responsibilities

• Hiring new nurses and overseeing the onboarding process by training them or assigning them to a trainer
• Creating schedules to ensure that departments have adequate nursing coverage for every shift
• Coaching nurses to improve performance and handling discipline issues
• Monitoring expenses to ensure that the facility operates within budgetary constraints
• Holding staff meetings to discuss patient status
• Conducting employee evaluations that identify nurses’ strengths and areas of improvement
• Making rounds to assess patient status and observe nurses
• Checking patient records to ensure that they are accurate and up to date
