Job summary

Sierra Health and Wellness seeks a SUD Counselor for its outpatient PHP program in Roseville, CA, focusing on adolescents with mental health and substance use challenges. You will assess, plan, and coordinate care, including crisis management, group therapy, and family involvement.

The role requires California certification as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor, HIPAA awareness, and at least one year of related experience; a driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required
• Certification as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor by a California Regulatory Agency
• 1+ year experience in Drug and Alcohol counseling
• HIPAA familiarity and client confidentiality understanding
• Valid Driver’s License and insurable vehicle

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor clients’ behaviors during treatment for chemical and alcohol abuse
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Make referrals to meet mental health or medical needs
• Collaborate with job developers to enhance employability or SSI processes
• Document client behavior in group sessions and counseling notes
• Provide crisis management and run group therapies for clients and families
• Coordinate treatment and discharge planning and respond to emergencies

Education

Certification as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor

Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
