Job summary

Sierra Health and Wellness in Bangor, CA is seeking a SUD Counselor to assess and monitor clients in treatment for chemical and alcohol abuse. You will develop individualized treatment plans and coordinate referrals for additional mental health or medical needs.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, California counseling certification, at least one year of experience, HIPAA knowledge, CPR/First Aid, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• California-registered Drug and Alcohol Counselor certification required.
• Minimum one year of experience in Drug and Alcohol counseling.
• HIPAA knowledge and client confidentiality.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor clients' behaviors during treatment of chemical and alcohol abuse.
• Develop treatment plans to reduce or eliminate substance abuse or criminal thinking.
• Make referral appointments for mental health or medical needs; coordinate SSI processes as needed.
• Document client behavior in group participation and counseling; provide crisis management.
• Coordinate discharge planning and community outreach; maintain daily records.

Education

High School diploma or GED

Certification as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor by a California Regulatory Agency

Current CPR and First Aid certification
