Job summary

Brattleboro Retreat in Vermont seeks a Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) to lead the Adolescent Inpatient Unit, an acute psychiatric stabilization program for youth in crisis. You will oversee daily operations, staffing, and nursing care aligned with trauma-responsive practices.

The CNM partners with interdisciplinary teams to uphold safety, quality, and patient-centered care, while guiding performance improvement, budget management, and staff development in a developmentally appropriate setting.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with Vermont licensure or eligibility.
• Minimum two years of leadership experience in hospital or inpatient settings.
• Two years of direct adolescent mental health experience.
• Experience supervising staff from diverse backgrounds.
• BLS- CPR certification or ability to obtain.
• CPI certification or ability to obtain.
• BSN or MSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes unit-specific goals aligned with quality, safety, patient experience, and fiscal responsibility.
• Provides leadership that promotes a therapeutic milieu tailored to adolescents in acute psychiatric crisis.
• Creates and sustains a positive work culture that supports inclusivity and teamwork across diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrates personnel management including recruitment, coaching, and performance evaluations.
• Ensures appropriate staffing levels and staff skill mix based on clinical needs and regulatory standards.
• Leads unit-level quality and performance improvement initiatives with data collection and action plans.
• Prepares, manages, and monitors the annual operating budget for efficient resource use.
• Maintains regulatory compliance regarding confidentiality (HIPAA) and patient safety.
