Job summary

Compass Health Center is seeking a Group Therapist in Northbrook, IL to lead small-group sessions using CBT, DBT, and ACT. You’ll assess safety, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with the treatment team to support patients through crisis stabilization.

One year post-master’s experience is preferred, with licenses such as LSW, LPC, LCSW, or LCPC. The compensation range is $47,000–$65,000 USD, with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• One year post-master’s experience preferred.
• Licenses: LSW (or eligible), LPC (or eligible), LCSW, or LCPC.
• Core skills: CBT, DBT, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing.
• Experience in crisis environments or PHP/IOP settings preferred.
• Experience treating Depression and Anxiety disorders.

Responsibilities

• Provide group therapy to patients in a safe therapeutic milieu.
• Assess patients daily for safety, ADLs, and mental status.
• Develop therapeutic group relationships to promote positive change.
• Utilize CBT/DBT/ACT to inform group facilitation.
• Relay clinical information to treatment team during rounds.
• Perform safety checks and implement safety plans as needed.
• Create and adjust group material and curriculum for group needs.
• Document therapeutic processes and clinical information.
• Communicate patient progress to the clinical staff.
• Complete discharges from the intensive outpatient program.

As a group therapist, you will spend the majority of your time with our patients facilitating evidenced based groups using modalities like CBT, DBT, and ACT. We are seeking new and experienced clinicians with a passion for delivering dynamic and informative groups for our patients. Our location in Northbrook is our first and largest facility, and consists not only of our widest variety of programs, but also serves as a pilot site for many of our new treatment offerings.

What You'll Do:

• Providing group therapy to patients in a safe and therapeutic milieu
• Assessing patients on daily basis for safety, ADLs, and mental status
• Developing effective therapeutic group relationships that promote positive change in patients
• Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to inform facilitation of group therapy sessions
• Relaying relevant clinical information from group sessions to treatment team during rounds and as needed
• Providing safety checks with safety plan as needed
• Developing creative program material and curriculum and adjusting group therapy content, as needed, to fit group needs
• Organizing and maintaining clinical group material to provide structure to curriculum
• Tracking frequency of skills taught in program to ensure full breadth of CBT/DBT skills are provided
• Documenting therapeutic processes, as well as all other relevant clinical information
• Communicating patient progress, interaction and presentation to clinical staff
• Completing discharges for patients discharging from the intensive outpatient program
• Creating and updating treatment plans
• Participating in professional development activities
• Other duties, as assigned

Who You Are:

• Have one year post master’s experience (preferred)
• Hold the following licenses or education: LSW (or LSW eligible), LPC (or LPC eligible), LCSW, or LCPC
• Possess a core skill set of CBT, DBT, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing skills
• Have prior experience working in crisis environment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, inpatient hospital, or residential setting (preferred, not required)
• Have prior experience treating: Depression/Mood disorders, Anxiety disorders
