Job summary

Capefearvalley seeks a Behavioral Health Technician for the Dorothea Dix Adolescent Psych Unit in Lillington, NC to work days. The role provides routine patient care, observes and records condition changes, takes vital signs, assists with daily living activities, and offers emotional support under a nurse's direction.

The technician conducts contraband searches, supports a safe and therapeutic environment, and coordinates with medical staff, security, and fellow technicians to ensure quality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates/Bachelors in Psychology/Social Work preferred.
• Nursing Assistant certification accepted.
• BLS from the American Heart Association required.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides care to patients in a manner that promotes safety, preserves patient dignity, and supports a positive therapeutic environment.
• Assists with new admissions including contraband searches and orienting patient to room and environment.
• Assists with transfers and discharges including vital signs and gathering patient belongings.
• Obtains and monitors vital signs and reports abnormalities to nurse.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and, if needed, toileting.
• Assists with therapeutic holds, restraints, and seclusion procedures after completing NCI training.
• Participates in group activities and reports observations to nursing staff.
