Job summary

Newport Healthcare in Minnesota seeks a Behavioral Health Specialist to support adolescents and young adults in our behavioral health programs. You’ll help maintain a safe, structured, and compassionate environment where patients feel supported and empowered throughout their healing journey.

As a frontline team member, you’ll supervise daily activities, guide patients through therapy, meals, and transitions, and lead or support mindfulness and group experiences.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license.
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's in psychology, counseling, or sociology preferred.
• Candidate demonstrates a patient-first mindset and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, supportive space with consistent, compassionate care and supervision.
• Guide patients through daily activities: therapy, groups, meals, and transitions.
• Lead or support mindfulness, recreation, and group experiences.
• Model calm, respectful behavior and healthy coping strategies.
• Stay grounded and respond effectively during high-stress situations.
