Job summary

Division of Youth Services seeks a mental health counselor to provide direct services to committed and detained youth. The role includes clinical assessment, therapy (individual, group, family), suicide risk monitoring, and coordination with a multi-disciplinary team to support treatment planning and youth stabilization.

Responsibilities include documenting interventions, monitoring medication with the facility psychiatrist, and collaborating with educational systems to align academic services

Qualifications

• Maintains a caseload and conducts individual, group, and family therapy sessions using evidence-based treatment theories in mental health treatment for adolescents.
• Understands adolescent development and appropriate interventions for this population.
• Interprets treatment issues and behavior changes for residents and families.

Responsibilities

• Document and assess the effectiveness of interventions toward program progression and youth stabilization.
• Provide therapy using a strength-based, holistic approach.
• Collaborate with medical staff and psychiatrist regarding psychotropic medication assessment or continuation.
• Coordinate with education/vocational systems to ensure appropriate academic services are provided.
• Engage MDT to ensure best approaches given youth developmental and neurocognitive needs.
