Job summary

State of Colorado’s Division of Youth Services – Gilliam Youth Services Center in Denver seeks a licensed behavioral health professional to serve as a mental health counselor for detained and committed youth. You will provide clinical assessment, individual and group therapies, and case management within a multidisciplinary team.

This role uses evidence‑based, trauma‑informed approaches and Sanctuary/ROCK principles, coordinating with medical, educational, and family services to support youth

Qualifications

• License as LSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT or LAC is required
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in youth mental health services
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Knowledge of DSM-5 assessment and treatment planning

Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload and provide individual, group, and family therapy to detained and committed youth.
• Coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team and the facility psychiatrist.
• Monitor medications in collaboration with medical staff and document treatment progress.
• Develop and implement treatment plans and monitor progress in the Fusion EHR system.
• Provide crisis management and trauma-informed care aligned with Sanctuary/ROCK principles
