Job summary

Daniel Memorial Inc. seeks a Residential Counselor for behavior health services in Jacksonville, FL. The role supports adolescent clients per treatment plans, following safety and documentation protocols.

You will participate as a team member ensuring a caring, structured environment and effective crisis response. Requirements include an AA degree with at least 1 year of mental health/developmental experience, valid Florida driver's license, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• AA degree REQUIRED with at least 1 year experience with at-risk children / mental health experience.
• Must be able to effectively use crisis intervention techniques.
• Valid Florida driver’s license in good standing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Basic computer knowledge
• Strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides care and treatment per the client’s treatment plan as part of the treatment team.
• Implements activities of daily living (wake up, meals) and maintains a clean, safe environment.
• Maintains clients’ hygiene, grooming, clothing; follows infection control procedures.
• Sets appropriate limits with clients and escorts them to activities or appointments.
• Observes clients according to guidelines and coaches recreational activities.
• Documents in client files, weekly summaries, and group logs accurately.
• Relates to clients, parents, peers, and the public in a respectful manner.
• Ensures medications are accurate, timely, and documented.
• Maintains unit cleanliness and participates in crisis situations as needed.
