Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our interdisciplinary team in Illinois. You will apply the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, rapidly interpreting complex data and making evidence-based decisions under pressure.

You will collaborate with patients, families and health care teams to develop individualized care plans, perform bedside labs, teach patients, and ensure safety and quality care across shifts.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days (AHA).
• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Illinois (IDFPR).
• College Diploma in Nursing required.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient's status through interview, observation and physical assessment of actual problems and outcomes.
• Develops an individualized plan of care with patient/family and health care team.
• Uses appropriate interventions identified in the plan of care to achieve expected patient outcomes.
• Systematically evaluates and documents patient's progress toward outcomes throughout the shift.
• Modifies plan of care based on evaluation and changes in condition.
• Completes required documentation including patient chart and event reports.
• Obtains adequate lab specimens for testing and performs bedside lab testing as ordered.
• Adheres to lab procedures/policies and quality control.
• Adapts teaching strategies based on patient response and learning readiness.
• Considers cultural, age-specific and developmental factors when teaching patients.
• Ensures patient safety per policy and national safety goals.
• Uses patient education resources for patients and families.
• Contributes to quality initiatives and performance improvement.
• Follows up on patient/family requests promptly and efficiently.
• Participates in unit-based councils.
