Job summary

Forest View Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI seeks an Admissions Registered Nurse to coordinate with ARC staff, physicians and families, collect medical histories, medications and vitals, and ensure a smooth transition to the unit. The nurse will float between admissions and floor, with 4-10 or 3-12 hour shifts during peak times.

MI RN licensure, psychiatric nursing knowledge, and COVID vaccination are required; two years of psychiatric experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in Michigan is required.
• Basic understanding of psychiatric nursing theory and practice.
• 2 years of psychiatric clinical experience preferred.
• Clinical nursing competency across general care.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and collect medical history and current meds.
• Assess vitals and evolving health status during admissions.
• Document findings as part of admission and history.
• Accompany patient to unit and aid transition.
• Handle interruptions professionally and meet deadlines.
• Maintain knowledge of hospital policies and legal issues.
• Respond to crisis calls and make referrals as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
