Job summary

Seaside Health System in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a dedicated Admissions Registered Nurse to lead patient admissions, plan and evaluate care, and support education for patients and families. You will coordinate with the care team to ensure timely admission and effective treatment planning, with a focus on quality outcomes.

The role requires an accredited nursing degree and Louisiana licensure, plus strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Louisiana.
• Minimum 1 year recent medical surgical or psychiatric clinical experience preferred.
• Knowledgeable and demonstrate competency in current principles and practices clinically specific medical surgical, psychiatric nursing.
• Able to problem-solve and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient assessment/treatment by accessing new patients within 8 hours of admission, initiating treatment plans, administering individual nursing care as ordered by the physician, and providing direct patient group treatments as scheduled.
• Screens patients for clinical appropriateness for inpatient hospital criteria and obtains admission order from the attending physician.
• Collaborates with other disciplines and treating physician regarding patient care and revision of treatment regime as part of the Treatment Team.
• Manages medication administration and appropriate handling and disposal of expired medications.
• Reports all medication administering errors made in a timely manner.
• Manages other duties as assigned/required.
