Job summary

Cross Creek Hospital in Austin, TX, seeks an Admissions RN to join our team and streamline the patient intake process. This full-time daytime role involves reviewing referrals, coordinating admissions, and ensuring timely pre-authorizations while maintaining a compassionate, patient-centered approach.

You will collaborate with medical and psychiatric staff to assess level of care, manage documentation, and support smooth transitions for patients and families in a dynamic behavioral health

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nursing required with active nursing license.
• Minimum of one year experience in a clinical or observational setting.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training provided).
• First aid certification may be required depending on state/facility.

Responsibilities

• Review medical documentation for admissions and obtain admission orders.
• Facilitate emergency transfers when needed and coordinate referrals.
• Assess medical and behavioral acuity and respond within timeframes.
• Respond to inquiries and provide facility information and recommendations.
• Determine appropriate level of care and collaborate with psychiatry and medical staff.
• Coordinate admissions process, including assessments, consent, and belongings inventory.
• Verify insurance benefits and secure pre-authorizations.
• Monitor patient status and adhere to policies and physician orders.
• Utilize web-based systems to track referrals and communicate admissions updates.
• Ensure timely receipt of clinical information from sources or patients.
• Schedule pre-admission assessments and communicate dispositions.
• Maintain accurate medical records to support payor authorization.
• Admit patients into registration systems with necessary forms.
• Maintain empathy and professionalism, prioritize safety, address concerns.
• Coordinate care for non-admitted patients and arrange follow-up referrals.
• Conduct safety checks and supervise according to guidelines.
