Job summary

The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia is seeking an Admissions Counselor to assist in recruitment and enrollment for Penn's undergraduate programs, engaging with prospective students, families, counselors and alumni to share Penn's opportunities.

This role manages inquiries, reviews applications with the Enrollment Team, and travels regionally to recruit a diverse class while fostering equity and care in the admissions process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts and 1 to 2 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Demonstrated project management skills plus the ability to balance an individual schedule with multiple organizational calendars/schedules within a high-volume and timeline driven process.
• Dynamic written communication, customer service, public speaking, teamwork, and collaboration skills are required.
• Volunteer, leadership, or professional experience in higher education, college counseling, managing volunteers, or familiarity with evaluating applications are appreciated, as is experience working with populations that are underrepresented in higher education.
• The job requires a valid driver's license and the ability to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the annual comprehensive evaluation and selection process for both first-year and transfer students.
• Support office-wide programs and projects, as assigned, to support the work of Penn Admissions.
• Frequently support the Admissions Visit Center and Client Care in daily staffing, welcoming visitors, supporting daily virtual in-person programming, and handling inquiries via phone, email, or in-person.
• Manage a geographic territory to identify, recruit, and yield candidates. Lead a variety of virtual and in-person recruitment activities, including evening and/or weekend programs, school visits, college fairs, and regional alumni programs. Engage in 1-3 weeks of recruitment travel.
