Job summary

Shorewood Behavioral Health is seeking an Admission/Intake Counselor to facilitate admissions, conduct intake assessments, and support utilization review to ensure appropriate care levels. This full-time role requires strong interpersonal skills and collaboration with clinical staff.

The position emphasizes the development of therapeutic relationships, eligibility verification, and coordination of admissions, with a focus on patient safety and high-quality customer service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a social services field is required.
• Master's degree in a social services field or RN is preferred.
• One or more years’ experience in mental/behavioral health working with individuals in a clinical or observational capacity is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to inquiries about the facility within policy timeframes.
• Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Perform benefit eligibility to ensure patient benefits are active at admission and communicate with the business office and patient.
• Coordinate admission and transfer between referral sources and levels of care.
• Prepare and maintain accurate medical record documentation to support authorization.
