Job description

Admissions Counselor

To assist applicants and newly accepted students with all aspects of the admissions process, emphasizing ensuring new students select programs that meet their career and personal development goals. Manage the admission process by conducting new student admissions and follow-up activities. Participate in admissions events such as Enrollment Nights, Accepted Student Day, Open Houses, and New Student Orientation. The Admissions Counselor will oversee the admissions process, including program exploration, ensuring acceptance documents are received, and handling registration and other follow-up activities throughout the admissions process. Additionally, work as a liaison between program academic advisors and students, assisting students in preparing for entry into their desired programs and counseling students requiring program changes.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide admissions counseling to all applicants and newly accepted students, especially transitional and first-time students at Spartanburg Community College. Assist applicants with career, academic, personal, and professional development. Connect applicants with academic, financial, and other support resources, providing referrals and follow-up services for additional career planning or counseling.
  2. Offer admission services, including academic and career information, to prospective and current students to help define their academic goals. Administer and interpret career and entrance assessments. Complete admissions processing to convert applicants into students, utilizing various Datatel screens for registration purposes.
  3. Use multiple technology systems effectively for enrollment, including Recruit CRM, Qless, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  4. Monitor applicant progress through communication, phone and email contacts, scheduled meetings, proactive outreach, and respond to questions, concerns, and needs of applicants and newly accepted students.
  5. Participate in gathering statistical data and assessment information to ensure the needs of applicants and students are met and maintain high service quality standards.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with student services experience OR
  • Master's degree in a related field with 3 years of experience in student services programs.
Additional Requirements

Ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of constituencies. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
