Job summary

AdventHealth in Land O Lakes, FL is seeking a hospital admissions specialist to manage patient payer information, preadmission data, and referral coordination. This PRN daytime role supports clinical liaison and admission workflows.

You will navigate Outlook, Excel, and Word, work with insurer databases, and ensure timely reporting while handling multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. A strong benefits package begins on day one.

Qualifications

• Experience with patient data entry and registration processes.
• Ability to navigate insurer/payer databases and contracts.
• Familiarity with hospital information systems and data accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Research and enter patient payer information into the database.
• Dispatch clinical liaison within fifteen minutes of referral.
• Gather preadmission clinical information from referrals in a timely manner.
• Obtain accurate revenue code documentation prior to admission.
• Input admission data into the system promptly and accurately.
• Collaborate with clinical liaison to convert referrals to admissions.
• Aggregate and organize clinical and financial files for admission.
• Ensure timely follow-through with referral sources and reporting.
• Obtain required pre-certifications and verify insurances.
• Reconcile census and meet reporting deadlines.

Job Description

• Researches and enters patient payer information into the database.
• Dispatches clinical liaison within fifteen minutes of receiving referral.
• Retrieves necessary preadmission clinical information from fax or other electronic referral systems in a timely manner.
• Obtains timely and accurate revenue code documentation prior to admission.
• Inputs pre-admission/admission of patient data in the database accurately and promptly.
• Works with clinical liaison to convert referrals to admissions.
• Aggregates clinical and financial information and organizes files for admission.
• Collaborates with Director of Business Development and Clinical Liaison to ensure prompt and accurate follow-through with referral sources.
• Sends aggregated admission information to clinical departments once patient admission is confirmed.
• Maintains currency of referral tracking and ensures timely and accurate reporting.
• Obtains insurance authorization plans requiring precertification and verifies primary and secondary insurances.
• Reconciles census and submits by deadline.
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Expertise in organization/time management/communication skills [Required]
• Working knowledge of and ability to navigate software programs such as Outlook, Excel, and Word [Required]
• Working knowledge of and ability to navigate insurer/payer databases [Required]
• Working knowledge of 3rd Party Contracts [Required]
• Knowledge of and ability to work with computer programs such as Siemens, HBOC, and/or GE Centricity [Required]
• Excellent data entry and computer skills [Required]
• Ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment [Required]
• Ability to deal effectively with the public. Must be able to respond to patients, physicians, and other customers in a professional and courteous manner during stressful situations [Required]
• Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays etc. [Required]

• Experience or understanding of benefits reimbursement under the Medicare policies as applied to Long Term Acute Care Hospitals [Preferred]
• Background in a Financial, Business, or Healthcare-related field [Preferred]
