Job summary

Diamond Grove Center Hospital, part of Universal Health Services in Louisville, Miss., seeks an Admissions Clinician to support physicians in identifying the appropriate level of care for potential patients and to coordinate referral and intake processes for pediatric and adolescent inpatients.

The role includes verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits, and ongoing communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. Knowledge of DSM-V criteria is essential.

Qualifications

• Education: Master degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or Human Service field or licensed RN.
• Experience: 1-2 years of experience preferred in psychiatric health care.
• Working knowledge: DSM-V criteria, mental status exam, addiction and recovery; supervisor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers telephone with appropriate greeting and collects clinical, demographic and insurance information to determine needs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of admission criteria for inpatient and outpatient levels of care; makes service recommendations and referrals.
• Schedules assessments with potential patients and referral sources and explains the assessment/admission process.
