Job summary

Garden City Healthcare Center in Modesto is hiring a Full-Time Admissions Assistant to welcome prospective residents and coordinate admissions with the care team. The ideal candidate has strong communication, organizational skills, and a compassionate, patient-centered approach to help families navigate the admission process smoothly.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in admissions, healthcare, or customer service preferred.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, Medicaid, managed care, and insurance verification preferred.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as first contact for prospective residents and families.
  • Respond to admission inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate and schedule admissions, including pre-admission assessments and required documentation.
  • Prepare, organize, and distribute admission packets and related forms.
  • Assist with insurance verification, authorizations, benefits, and financial eligibility processes.
  • Follow up with hospitals, physicians, case managers, and referral sources for complete clinical information.
  • Maintain accurate and current admission records per federal, state, and facility requirements.
  • Provide facility tours and information to prospective residents and families.
  • Collaborate with nursing, social services, dietary, therapy, business office, and administrative staff to prepare for new admissions.
  • Communicate admission details and resident needs to appropriate departments.
  • Help residents and families understand the admission process with patience and professionalism.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident, applicant, and facility information.
  • Support census development, marketing, and community outreach activities as needed.
  • Assist with administrative duties, reports, phone calls, filing, and data entry.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Admissions Assistant – Full-Time Garden City Healthcare Center

Pay Range: $17.48–$18.00 per hour, based on experience

Garden City Healthcare Center is seeking a compassionate, organized, and customer-focused Full-Time Admissions Assistant to join our team. This position plays an important role in creating a smooth and welcoming transition for new residents and their families. The Admissions Assistant supports the Admissions Coordinator and works closely with nursing, social services, business office staff, hospitals, and referral partners to ensure each admission is handled efficiently, accurately, and with genuine care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for prospective residents, families, hospitals, physicians, case managers, and referral sources.
  • Respond to admission inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate and schedule resident admissions, including pre-admission assessments and required documentation.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in admissions, healthcare, skilled nursing, long-term care, or customer service strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, Medicaid, managed care, and insurance verification processes preferred.
  • Experience with PointClickCare or another electronic health record system is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Compassionate and positive approach when working with residents and families.
  • Dependable attendance and a strong commitment to teamwork.
Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, computer use, and telephone communication. The employee may occasionally be required to lift or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds. The role also requires the ability to remain focused and organized in a busy work environment.
