Position Summary
The Desktop Systems Administrator is responsible and accountable for the effective lifecycle management of Le Moyne’s personal and mobile computing devices, and academic software. This includes processes and technologies associated with acquisition, inventory and asset management, imaging and installation, configuration, maintenance, renewal and disposal of computing devices and software. The Desktop Administrator supervises and coordinates the activities of student employees who support the lifecycle management activities. The role actively advances and promotes Le Moyne’s mission and Catholic and Jesuit identity.
Principal Duties and Essential Functions
Desktop Administration
- Actively lead the lifecycle management of Le Moyne’s personal and mobile computing devices, including device acquisition, creation of OS images, and deployment of baseline system configuration for Windows, Apple macOS, Google Chromebook, and Apple iOS devices.
- Ensure timely and consistent distribution of software updates and security patches in accordance with departmental standards.
- Identify, utilize and maintain methods and technologies to promote efficient device and software configuration management.
- Effectively integrate third‑party hardware (e.g., printers, scanners, copiers) into Le Moyne’s personal and mobile computing environment.
- Establish and document best practices for the technical support of computing and mobile devices.
- Evaluate and recommend devices and software to satisfy specified requirements.
- Serve as a consultant regarding questions involving system installation, configuration, and maintenance.
Application Administration
- Actively lead the end‑to‑end lifecycle management of Le Moyne’s academic software, including evaluation, testing, virtualization, distribution, and support across Windows, Apple macOS, Google Chromebook, and Apple iOS devices.
- Utilize established tools to manage the virtualization and distribution of assigned applications.
- Audit the application portfolio regularly to identify under‑utilized software for removal and monitor applications for software updates.
- Establish documentation surrounding application management and practices.
- Serve as a consultant regarding questions involving software installation, configuration, and maintenance.
Student Management
- Serve as the primary professional staff member responsible for hiring, training, mentoring, and supervising approximately ten student staff.
- Assist in developing a comprehensive training program to educate Systems and Network Services student staff.
- Approve timesheets and absences for direct reports using the established systems.
- Schedule appropriate student staffing to support the SNS team needs.
General Duties
- Apply principles and practices that promote the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Le Moyne’s information and technology services.
- Support the resolution of technology issues and ensure that assigned incidents and requests are responded to and resolved in accordance with established standards.
- Collaborate on the maintenance and renewal of systems and software configuration management tools.
- Collaborate with other IT staff and the Le Moyne community on assigned projects.
- Communicate effectively in visual, oral, and written form with key constituencies.
- Maintain a constituent‑centric approach at all times and demonstrate professionalism in contacts with others.
- Engage in on‑call and weekend support as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic preparation from a regionally accredited college.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience supporting desktop, software, and mobile computing systems.
- Successful prior supervisory and/or team leadership experience in a professional work environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows11, Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows registry, and Windows File and Print Services.
- Working experience with Windows Server operating systems.
- Proficiency in GSuite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and similar productivity tools.
- Experience with application distribution and virtualization platforms such as AppsAnywhere (or similar) to provide software access.
- Hands‑on experience configuring SCCM (or similar configuration management tool) to build, deploy, and manage PC images.
- Hands‑on experience with Jamf (or similar configuration management tool) to build, deploy, and manage macOS images.
- Experience supporting virtual desktop technologies.
- Familiarity with ITIL (or related) service‑management practices including incident, problem, configuration, and change management.

Pay Range
$25.50–$27.00 per hour.
